Gyopo
Gyopo (교포): a word for ethnic Koreans living outside of Korea, captures more than geography. It describes a cultural in-between: close enough to feel your roots, far enough to feel the disconnect. This short film lives in that backdrop, following an aspiring artist and the slow distance growing between him and his immigrant mother. Two people who love each other deeply, yet find themselves speaking different languages about the same dreams, the same fears.
Director: Mackey Yan
